Dance Marathon in Madrid

Harlequin rewards the youngest hope of dancing at the 4th edition of the dance Marathon in Madrid.
24 hours of uninterrupted dancing, 147 dance companies, more than 1000 participants. The 4th edition of the dance Marathon in Madrid took place on the 3rd and 4th of June 2005 on the stage of the Theatre of Madrid.
The rule is: for 24 hours, each candidate company performs for 10 minutes maximum in front of a jury of theatre directors, journalists and dance professionals and presided over by Maya Plisetskaya.
A unique event in Europe
The aim of this unique event in Europe is to allow professional and amateur dance companies, as well as dance schools, to perform on a professional stage and eventually win one of the 8 prizes awarded at the Gala dinner with the exceptional presence of Tamara Rojo, first dancer of the Royal Ballet of London.
Among the 8 candidates there was Priscila Gómez, a 12-year old Colombian girl who, in the children’s category, performed a short extract of Esmeralda, triggering a surprise among the jury members by the difficulty and precision of her point dancing.

Harlequin rewards hardship
According to Patrick Lesage, Senior Sales & Marketing Manager of Harlequin and member of the jury, the decision to award the Harlequin Prize to Priscila had been motivated by the fact that this young hope of dancing represents, alone, an example of courage, hardship and respect to the public.
Harlequin wishes Priscila success at the dawn of a promising professional career. |
