Harlequin creates the "Danza in Fiera 2009" event

Once again, Harlequin, manufacturer and world leader of dance floors and sprung floors, surprised its public of dancers, directors and visitors at Danza in Fiera 2009 in Florence.

The 4th edition of this great dance festival broke all records. And Harlequin added its own with a stand which was visited a lot and where we were able to discover the new system of latching “in a turn of a hand” of the Harlequin LIBERTY™ sprung floors, as well as performances of the dancers from the MAS dance school to techno music, but mainly a conference with international speakers of medicine and dance, a first time in Italy.

A first in Italy!

Within the framework of pan-European awareness campaign against hazardous dance floors and the risk of chronic injuries for dancers, Harlequin has organised an informative conference regarding the “how to choose the ideal dance floor”? issue. A first in Italy!

Three exceptional speakers

The speakers were Dr. Boni Rietveld, orthopaedic surgeon and director of the Medical Centre for Dancers and Musicians in The Hague, Antonella Bruno, director of the MAS dance school and Anthony Navacchi, Area Sales Manager Italy for Harlequin, who ran the conference.

Faced with a public of professional dancers, school directors and artistic and technical directors, Harlequin has once more proven its commitment to the manufacture and use of quality products while taking the health of dancers into consideration.

First worldwide study as to the link between injuries and dance floors

During the conference, Dr Boni Rietveld presented exclusive results of the 1st worldwide research analysing the link between injuries and dance floors, research commissioned by Harlequin. The first results have shown that the dancers of the Dutch National Ballet have fewer injuries since they started dancing on Harlequin sprung floors.

Encouraged by this conclusion, Harlequin Europe committed itself to continue this research at European level, mainly in collaboration with the MAS Italian dance school which was recently equipped with the Harlequin LIBERTY™ sprung floor covered with Harlequin CASCADE™.

Antonella Bruno, the motivated director of MAS, testified to the reasons for her choice by declaring unequivocally “Invest in quality!” She encourages all directors to take the responsibility to look after the comfort of their students.
