Harlequin takes part in the 9th Europa Dance

Committed to professional integration for young European artists, the pre-professional Dance Company Europa Dance, established in 1999 by Jean-Albert Cartier, offers supplementary training programmes to young European students at the end of their curriculum.
Handpicked by Mr. Cartier himself from among the most prestigious private schools and European Conservatories, these young dancers aged between 17 and 21 years old, are from France, Finland, Great-Britain, Spain and Germany.
“Picasso and Dance”
Now in its 9th year, Europa Dance presents “Picasso and the Dance”, a tribute to the 125th anniversary of Pablo Picasso’s birth. The programme will present four of Diaghilev’s Russian Ballets: Parade (1917), Pulcinella (1920), Mercure (1924) and Cuadro Flamenco (1921).
Period decor and costumes
The performances will respect the decor and costumes of the period created by Picasso. As for the choreography, the first and the last ballet will be original versions, whereas the other two will be from creations of Ana Maria Stekelman for Pulcinella and Thierry Malandain for Mercure.
For Cuadro Flamenco, the company will have the pleasure of the presence of artists finishing their studies at Madrid’s Royal Conservatory.
Harlequin, committed to their company philosophy, wishes to be part of this project, in giving future professional dancers the possibility to dance on a Harlequin floor.
An international tour
This show will form part of an important tour in France and abroad. 30 French towns are following the programme including Paris, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on 21st and 22nd October.
