Malcolm Glanville, Technical Director - Rambert Dance CompanyRambert Dance Company is Britain’s flagship modern dance company and we are proud to say that it is also one of Harlequin’s oldest customers, having bought floors for 25 years. Malcolm Glanville, Rambert Dance Company’s Technical Director, “Rambert has been at its present home in Chiswick since the mid 70’s. The main rehearsal studio had an old floor with no springing, which was taking its toll on the dancers. Eventually the wear became obvious to the eye, and it was at this point that Harlequin introduced me to their Activity Floor. It was to prove to be the ideal solution – and cost effective too! We specified Harlequin Studio as the performance surface, as this was the flooring that we toured with. Dancers would be used to the material and, being cushioned, it would further help with impact absorbency. The Activity floor was expertly and quickly installed by Harlequin’s Contracts Division and after more than 10 years looks as good as the day it went it. Dancers always risk injury, but with Harlequin’s Activity Floor we have attempted to reduce this to a minimum.” |

Ric Rose, Associate Professor of Dance Department of Theatre and Dance, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL“Studios and stages at The University of Florida Department of Theatre and Dance enjoy a stream of nationally and internationally recognized dance artists. With a fast growing program in creative research recently inaugurated with a new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance, came the opportunity to re-equip our main dance studio. Our original floor was very brutal, especially after a long day of teaching and rehearsing. But it was all we had. We researched the field thoroughly and decided to place our trust in Harlequin’s Allegro. What a revelation this stable and reliable thick, padded floor is! It took no time to fall in love with its cushioning. Our old hard floor had slowly eliminated movement choices; Allegro allowed us to rediscover them, without worrying how we would feel the next day. Every dancer we train, every dance we create, deserves Allegro. If we bring the world of dance to our students, the floor had better be able to handle it. Allegro can!” |
